Worship At His Footstool

6/1/2010

Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
(Psalm 100:1-3

We are the Lord’s people; called into His glory. This is His story, and we are invited to be a part of His story. The earth is His footstool, and our place of worship. Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His footstool — He is holy (Psalms 99:5). There is no designated place to worship God; we worship Him wherever we go – wherever our feet touch is the church. Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you nations (lands). Come before His presence with singing, and know that the Lord is God. There is a passage that states; “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10)! Is there a contrast in the passages? NO! We know He is God when we are still and wait on Him, and also when we come before Him and worship at His footstool (on the earth) with singing.

On the forth day of travel, we were on the road by 6:30. It was a short drive, compared to the first three days. We stopped at the last rest area before reaching Indianapolis to pray for our State. God is blessing Indiana. There is a lot of talk about revival in Indiana; and a lot of prayer and meetings focusing on revival in Indiana. God gave me a passage for Indiana this morning.  You answered them, O LORD our God; You were to them God-Who-Forgives, though You took vengeance on their deeds (Psalm 99:8). The passage is a passage in past tense – meaning it has already happened. God has answered our prayers (the revival is coming through the hearts of the believers); the vengeance on our deeds has past, because He has been to us God-Who-Forgives (El-nasah). Praise the Lord.

There is another time when we know the Lord is God; when we are serving in His name. The van we were traveling in got incredible gas mileage while we were on the road – averaging around 36 or more miles to the gallon. The best I had ever seen in the past was around 22 MPG. God is a God Who multiplies. When we wait on the Lord, we see His power and know He is God. When we praise the Lord, we remember what He has done and know the Lord is God. When we serve the Lord we experience the Lord as God, and have praises to share.

After dropping Jeff off at his home, I started home. God has a couple more things he wanted me to do. First, He had me call my wife and invite her out to breakfast (He was giving me a treat also – breakfast is one of our favorite times together and time we rarely have together).  As I drove home, the Spirit prompted me to get off of 465 and take 74 to Brownsburg.  At the corner of 267 and Northfield Drive the Spirit showed me two young men with signs indicating they needed help. I made a quick right turn, and then a U-turn; putting the van next to them.  Giving to their physical need first, I then shared a word of encouragement from the Spirit and continued on my way.

After breakfast, Sherry and I went to the circle in downtown Indianapolis to pray. The spot, the Spirit showed us to anoint with oil, was right next to where the carriages park and wait for customers.  Sherry and I had never taken a carriage ride in Indianapolis.  As we approached the carriages, another couple moved in front of us and took the first one.  The one behind moved up.  It was perfect.  The carriage had purple seats; the driver’s name was Lorna (meaning: a place of honor and victory), and the horse’s name was Spirit.  Spirit led us through the streets of Indianapolis; as the Holy Spirit led us in prayer for Indianapolis – proclaiming Indianapolis as a place of honor and victory in the Lord.  What a wondrous God we serve.
