The One I Love in You

The mind of a man can be trained to lie
And taught not to see true beauty
The heart can be hidden from us
And kept quiet about the truth of love
The love of God reveals to us truth
And the eye of God reveals to us beauty

The one that you love is truly beautiful
Even though the eyes of man do not see
The eyes are blinded by what can never be
A flesh that is forever young and forever taut
So we replace our loves as easily as bow strings
And teach our hearts to forget truth

We call leaving the love of our youth
Being set free from the bonds of tradition
And teaching our hearts to lie as maturity
We refer to the unfaithful as free spirits
And the faithful as one pecked by a hen
It is the blind eyes of the hearts that dwell in men

One came and healed the blind with a touch
And touched the hearts with words of loving
That goes beyond what the eyes can see and know
A love, that can touch the enemy, can see the beauty
A heart that can pray for those that kill the flesh
Can itself be free from the house of lies

Do I love you in a way to let you know
Have I loved you enough to let you grow
In a way you need to know that I love you
Have I loved you so that you could succeed
Love isn’t love when it is what I need and don’t see
That there is another heart beating for me

Does my heart beat enough for you
Do I love enough for you to see your beauty
Reflecting in the eyes that mirror my heart
My mind does not lie nor my heart hide God’s love
The Son of God purified the pool that reflects
The way my heart sees the one I love in you
