Let us make the things of life

Let us make the things of life
Trees reaching for the skies
Let them be tender branches
With leaves taking in the white
Arms reaching into the heavens
Clothed by nature like the lily
Fed by the air and the earth
And the dew that falls with night

Let us make the things of life
Dreams inside the tender mind
Let them flow sweet from the eyes
Honey on the praising tongue
Lift them up into the heavens
Utterances no one else knows
Freed inward castle unseen
Falling at the singers feet

Let us make the things of life
That we treasure like gold
Be the things of life alive
Not the things of death we hold
Forget the deed that shuns the soul
With one that cloaks the multitude
Released when castle rocks fell
From the branch of the tree

Let us make the things of life
The thing it would us be
If we let and not forced
If we both gave and received
To and from the one that we need
And if we both gave and received
To one that is friend indeed
To the strange at our gate

Let us make the things of life
Trees reaching for the skies
Let them be tender branches
With leaves taking in the sites
Arms reaching into the light
Clothed by nature like birds in flight
Freed by the Son and Father
Baptized by the Comforter
