A Crown

A crown of thorns for Your head
Tells us You bleed for us
The head of Christ bleeds for us
A purple robe about Your broken body
Tells us that in the body we are heirs
The body of Christ are kingdom heirs

They scourged Him, crowned Him with thorns
And struck our Lord with their hands
Then went out before the waiting crowd
And said, “We find no fault in Him.”
The crowd said, “We have a law, He shall die.”
Jesus where are You from? Are You not speaking?
Do You not know that we have the power,
The power to crucify You or release You?
Our King replies, “Only if the power is from God.”

Jesus sat in the judgement seat
To tell us He was judged in our place.
He bore His cross to take our sin,
He bore it upon His bleeding back,
That we might be whole and healed.
He went to the cross to save me.
