Read Matthew 4:1-11
Jesus was led by the Spirit to be tempted. God didn’t temp His Son, but allowed the enemy to temp Him. The enemy started by saying, “If you are the Son of God.” That was not an issue for Jesus, He knew who He was. Then the enemy tried to command Jesus – he acted as if Jesus should obey his command when he said, “command that these stones become bread.” The enemy again said, “If you are the Son of God” and tried to command Jesus. Then the enemy tried to bride the Son of God with what God had already promised to Him, saying “I will give You.” That was a lie, in fact what the enemy wanted was to take the promise from Him. In fact all three statements made by the enemy were lies. The angel of darkness had and has no authority over Jesus (as the Son of God or the Son of Man). The lie was not in what Satan said, but in his exercise of authority. Jesus answered with the truth. The fact that the truth had been written in scripture was part of the plan of God and not a command to always answer with scripture. Always answer with truth; Satan used scripture but it was not truth.
God creates with the spoken word and the enemy destroys with the lie – the spoken word perverted. In all things speak the truth and the lie will have no power. The lie only has power if it is trusted – believed! Hear the word of God and speak the word of God. Receive the Spirit of Truth, that is God. It is true that God is God and has always been God, the same God – it is not true that God does not do new things – our life is renewed everyday. It is true that Jesus is the Son of God and that He came as the Son of Man to bring all men to God. It is true that the Holy Spirit is God and sent by God, Father and Son. It is true that Jesus’ blood covers all of our sins and washes us free. It is true that we can live free by the power of the LORD. It is true that God is our provider. It is true that God is our King and High Priest. It is true that God loves us and sent His Son to us and sends His Holy Spirit to us – TODAY!
PRAISE GOD!
