Thus says the LORD, the LORD and your God, who pleads the cause of His people: “See I have taken out of your hand the cup of trembling, the dregs of the cup of My fury; you shall no longer drink it. But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to you, ‘Lie down that we may walk over you.’ And you have laid your body down like the ground, and as the street, for those who walk over” (Isaiah 51:22-23).
Those that seek to destroy or hold in captivity shall no longer overcome the children of God. “Please hear this, you afflicted, and drunk but not with wine” (Isaiah 51:21). The words written in Isaiah 51 are for those filled with the Holy Spirit, that have been afflicted by those that will not hear the voice of the LORD our God. “For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was spoken of by the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh'” (Acts 2:15-17). The Spirit filled children of God have been held in captivity and the LORD is setting us free. God Himself has redeemed us. “For thus says the LORD God, ‘You have sold yourself for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money'” (Isaiah 52:3).
“The Spirit of the LORD God is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isaiah 61:1). That passage from Isaiah 61 is a prophecy about our LORD Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. It is also about the body of Christ, the Holy Spirit filled Church; “The Spirit of the LORD God is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach.” We have not been given a spirit of fear nor the Holy Spirit so that we would fear men. “Please hear this, you afflicted, and drunk but not with wine” (Isaiah 51:21), “See I have taken out of your hand the cup of trembling” (Isaiah 51:22). Preach without fear the good tidings! PRAISE GOD!
Let us stop repeating the doctrines of men that bind and hold in captivity, and speak the Word of God (Jesus the Christ) that sets us all free. Stop reading and repeating the doctrines of those that refuse the Holy Spirit and will not hear the voice of God. “Please hear this, you afflicted, and drunk but not with wine” (Isaiah 51:21). Hear what? “Thus says the LORD, the LORD and your God, who pleads the cause of His people (Isaiah 51:22). Hear the voice of the LORD! Hear what the voice of the LORD is saying without the blinders of the those that refuse to hear. Hear the voice of the LORD!
“Listen to Me, My people: and give ear to Me, O My nation: for law will proceed from Me, and I will make My justice rest as a light of the peoples” (Isaiah 51:4). There was much law in Israel when that word was given – the books of the law had been handed down from generation to generation. In Isaiah 51 verse 8 it is written that, “My righteousness will be forever and My salvation from generation to generation.” In verse 7 it is written, “Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, you people in whose heart is My law.” God has said, You who know righteousness (or you who know Jesus the Christ) listen to Me. Why? Because law proceeds from Him. God is telling us to listen and hear Him.
