the gift of loving you

why do you always think there is better than you
it may be so, but not for me
things needed might be a topic worth exploring
it may be so, but not for me
someone could be waiting to satisfy a lifetime of dreams
it may be so, but not for me
i’m having my fill of fantasies and they’re wrapped around you

time may erase the reasons love blooms this way
but it can never wipe away the love we share today
work and stress may keep me from where I would be
if life took care to care for us, instead of us for life
if the magic crystal polished itself and left us to us
but even so, lack of money, work, worry, and strife
can never take away the fact that you chose to be my wife

this may be another one of a million ways to say i love you
it may be so, but not for me
could be one of at least a thousand ways of saying I’m still true
it may be so, but not for me
it may be another hopeless love song waiting for a timeless melody
it may be so, but not for me
it is a gift to me, a blessing from God, that i call loving you
