Love in 4-4 Time

Love only take time once it arrives
Before that it only takes waiting
And haven’t we done our share
Of waiting for someone to care

Or is it just another pick up line
Or the poet trying to find a rhyme
Are you the next to be the last
Or am I watching you walk past

Love only takes time to last
Otherwise it takes away the hurt
For a little while, ‘til it takes it’s place
You are the runner, love is the race

Love doesn’t take time or cause pain
The cloud brings, doesn’t cause the rain
The ticking clock will not bring love
The beating heart is only its waiting home

It’s true, love can bring you pain
But no more than not letting it in
Love on the way or always been standing outside
Is what the poet calls a reason to write

But the poet would rather pen
The love between lover or friend
Love, once it arrives, takes time
Love, once it arrives, becomes the poet’s rhyme
