This is My Beloved

After years of wandering highways and alleys
Chasing dreams and seeking almost anything
I long to look into my Father’s eyes
And hear Him say, “My son, well done”
I am looking for a man named John
Dressed in camel hair and humility
To put me under the water of the River Jordan
Because all righteousness needs to be fulfilled
Coming up to a dove armed with peacefulness from above
And the words I have for so long longed to hear
“This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”

The kingdom of heaven is for the poor in spirit
For today they mourn, in the morning comfort comes
Blessed are the meek, for their prayers heal the land
Blessed and full are those who long for righteousness
Blessed are they who love mercy, for they have mercy
Blessed are those who hold purity in their heart
For they shall see the goodness of God in the living
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will hear God say
“This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”
Blessed are you who are persecuted for righteousness
Rejoice and be glad, for this is a day the Lord has made
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!
