By this all will clearly believe
That we are followers of the way
If we possess love one for another
If we visit the sick and elderly
Clothed and feed the less fortunate
And treat a stranger like a brother

A new commandment was spoken
As the Lord has loved you in this world
Love others in the world just the same
Forgive as you have been forgiven
Lay down your need for wrath and revenge
Treat an enemy as one closer than a friend

This is love, not that we loved Him
But that while we were estranged
He laid down His life to redeem
And then He picked it up again
How much more being justified
Can we unite as siblings in His love

By this all will clearly perceive
That we are followers of the way
When the love He has shown us
Flows from us like a raging river
Through the land of the living
From our hearts of thanksgiving

By this all will clearly perceive

If we deliver love one to another
Through the Lord and Holy Ghost
Not by works that none would boast
By grace that all should receive
