We use words to speak of love
We use language with finesse
To try and convey our tenderness
When all is said is all really done
Is what we said true in what we do

By this we have been shown love
That He took action with life
This is how we have known love
He loved us when we were at our worst
When He gave us life and gave love first

When Jesus came and saw our need
A people who no one comforted
A people oppressed by the law of love
Wielded like a sword to pierce our heart
No mercy, no truth in judgement

Love took an action up on a tree
For all who passed by to see
Nailed to the wood He created
Pierced in the side He emptied out
This life’s blood the spirit of life

No one took a thing from Him
He laid it down and picked it up again
He returned from where he came
And poured His love down on us
An outpouring of His love in action
