Someone went to sleep tonight for the last time
Someone dreamed the last dream of this life
Someone said goodnight and closed two eyes
And left a world of people who never knew
He had ever walked this way, ever fought the fight
He went into the good night, gently
Someone spent a lifetime trying to believe
Someone saw life go by but never perceived
That life was alive inside, living abundantly
He loved, he laughed, he worked, he played
Wrote down things about the days and nights
No will see or ever read passionately
Tomorrow came and went dressed up like today
Yesterday pretended like he never went away
Someone wishes someone had taken time to say
There were chances not taken to play it safe
But it was not secure in this unspoken land
It was just silent and empty of words in this place
It is not that no one cared, but no one knew how
No one taught of the emotions for fear of reason
No one understood what no one understands
And no one understands but the spirit of the man
It cannot be over because no one sung his song
That he never finished before he went to sleep
