A Simple Soul

Now I am just a simple soul
Not knowing why a King would die for me
In faith I believe, I believe
Why would One come down here
To live His life to die that I might live
I just believe, I believe

Why did the crowd say He’s not my king
Why did the priests stir up the crowd to hate Him so
While at home their wives prepared the Passover lamb
Could it be that just like me they failed to see
What life would be if we turned away from One who came
How could it be that we did not know

They quickly put Him in the earth in another’s tomb
Loved ones cry as the sun sets on a mournful day
But morning came and the stone did not remain
Who did you come here looking for, He’s not here
The grave would not hold down the One who came
To wash away our sins and bring us to a brighter day

Lord, I am just a simple soul
Not knowing why a King would die for me
In faith I believe, I believe
Why would One come down here
To live His life to die that I might live
I just believe, I believe
