Walking along the empty shores
Trying to be something that is something more
Than the way it has ever been before
We want it all and what it is we don’t know
We’re just playing with the memories
Of how tomorrow should turn out
While we’re not even sure about today
We call it faith and we say we wait
We say “Being still is an action”
Hoping as we wait with haste
Running a race, running in place
On our knees or on our face
Knowing there has to be more
Of what we are still waiting for
Father, please give me a clue
Of what I’d be, being more of You
Created in Your image and likeness
Seems like a long way away from me
Son of God set me free from empty
And fill me with Your saving grace
Turn me around again one more time
Lord, fill me up to overflowing
And then will I know what overflows
Is it water and blood or is it spirit and fire
Is life a free gift and trials for rewards
Or is nothing expected for the servant
Just following the master’s command
And it’s a sin to ask, if it sounds like doubt
All I know is Jesus and Him slain
All I know is the Christ and Him alive
All I know is the faith I am to have
In the righteousness of God alone
Don’t you know only God is good
And only the good go to heaven
If their belief is counted as faith
