Inward Daydream

There is a place deep in the soul
where an essence of everything it touches remains
a peaceful place called Shangrala, guarded by the Valley of Den
the home of all ours fears and foes with and without names

There is a river of life that takes one there
Past the valley to the safety of the peaceful lair
From it one can watch the beauty and dream of how it began
and rest, for on the journey out we must pass through the Valley of Den

The peace that is found in the depth of the soul
must be sacrificed, the gods of Den must have their toll
Some may choose never to leave the peaceful place
the harmless few that choose no longer to run the race

There are also those who become trapped forever
Walking about always in doubt and fear that it may or may not end
So take care if you someday choose to journey
Where life’s sweet essence is wrapped within the valley of Den
