The Tender Side

Went out walking one night on the tender side,
Not expecting to find anyone else there,
But there you were and we fell in love.
What else could we do when all you saw,
Was the tender side of me?

We settled down and built a family around
The two of us and went off to pay life’s bills.
Demands of life are sometimes more than we know.
And sometimes we make them more than they really are
And let them take away the tender side.

When I want to be to you the one I was
When we fell in love, time won’t set me free
Or I won’t give enough of what I know can be
It isn’t that I don’t feel or need; it’s that it
Was the tender side of me.

Inside myself I cry for what I will not let live.
And fear that I never will let you see again,
The simple truth about your complicated man.
It isn’t something I can easily let you see
The one that is the tender side of me.

God grant me the strength to be weak and strong
And the wisdom to know the time for each.
But most of all dear Lord I pray to You
Forgive me with Your grace and grant me the faith
To live on the tender side of me.
