Knowing Does Not Often Understand

 Starting to write, “It happens.”
Thinking how that must sound
to the one it just happened to.
How would I know if it hadn’t
just happened to someone I love.
But wait! As a Christian shouldn’t
the one I love be everyone?
And hasn’t it been happening
for as long as we care to know?
Forgive me Lord, but it feels that way
and I cannot lie to You today.
It just feels that way, help me!
Understanding sometimes does not know
and knowing does not often understand.
When God created humans
He gave them the earth
to populate and maintain.
It was a charge to serve,
not to be served by, the earth.
Not to be lord, but to keep.
In the same way woman
was not created to serve man
but to be cared for by him.
Together they are to bring up
children and to care for them.
Parents look not to the child
for blessings, for they are
blessings from the Father,
to be blessed and not blamed.
