A Different Shade of Gold

Walking out among men and women
Descendants of all the earth’s kin
They where to my left and to my right
Behind me and in front, on all sides
Everywhere within my sight, I behold
Laughing, crying, talking and listening
All of them and myself different shades of gold

A song came up from the spirit of one
And without being known by any
Being sang from the hearts of the bold
Truly this day we are children of God
Each of us and all of us one of the One
It has begun and it has also been done
All of us being made different shades of gold

A prayer went out from the Spirit of all
And without any writing of the utterances
The words came up from the golden bowls
Made for this purpose and not bought or sold
But anointed by the hand of the Creator
Tried by fire and tended by the Creator’s Son
All of them created different shades of gold

Once we toiled in the heat of the sun
Worked the works of our hands by night
Each of us would say of what we made
Are these things not grand? We would call
To each other by shades of black and white
Until the Word came to us and we were told
That God made each of us a different shade of gold

Stand on the mountain of the Word of God
And say it is better to be of whites or blacks
Or that of the prophets, they were one of one
It is not of God to do this. It should not be told
That one is chosen and the other burden’s back
The Lord Jesus is the answer to our soul’s tears
All of us created different shades of gold
