Celebrate

There is a lot of talk about Christ being taken out of Christmas, and that is true. It has been that way for years. Packed parking lots, rude shoppers, and gifts at sale prices have nothing to do with Christ. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves’” (Matthew 21:13). December 25 was picked as a day to use as the birthday of Jesus. It is not recorded so in the scriptures. If they are taking Christ out of the day man picked, let’s take the Christian out of the day. No more mad-shopping and seasonal giving. There are seven high days written of in scripture, let’s pick one of those days to celebrate the life of Jesus.

We already celebrate Jesus on the Passover; or do we substitute Easter bunnies and colored eggs? There are two high days during the Passover Week (Days of Unleavened Bread), the first day and the last day. Pentecost may be a good day to pick – it is the day that the Holy Spirit came to dwell in the believer. If we pick The Feast of Trumpets (Rosh HaShanah or Yom Teruah (Joyful Blast of the Trumpet or Shofar)) we could celebrate with the blowing of the shofars and trumpets of silver. On the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) we could fast in His honor. The first day of the Feast of Tabernacles (Feast of Booths (Temporary Dwelling)) is a day when we can celebrate the mortality of our earthly bodies and the coming of the eternal (salvation paid for by the Blood of the Christ). The Last Great Day (or eighth day) of the Feast of Tabernacles celebrates the coming of the day that never ends, the Kingdom of God, to this earth as it is in heaven.

We don’t have to continue to walk in the ways of this world and wonder why this world is taking away the name of our Lord. We can chose to ignore the day man had chosen and chose to celebrate Jesus everyday in everything we do. Do not give anything to the enemy; celebrate Jesus on the 25th of December as just one more day that we celebrate Him; not by going crazy with the credit cards and making the world rich, but by showing the richness of God everyday. God’s treasure is the grace He has given to us; PASS IT ON through forgiveness. If the world wants Christ out of the Winter Season, then let’s take the Christian out of the winter shopping season. We are the Church of God (a body and not a denomination); we are the New Temple (House of God). Let’s make the House a house of prayer!
