Somebody

Somebody laughed today
Thinking about another time
Somebody cried from their heart
Somebody stayed, somebody ran away
Somebody had all they needed
Somebody had what they wanted
And somebody had neither

Somebody was blue today
Somebody was broken and alone
Somebody roasted marshmallows
Somebody enjoyed their own company
Somebody waited by the phone
Somebody thanked their lucky stars
As they traced their healed scars

Somebody had joy today
In their mixed up messy life
Somebody changed their mind
Somebody called, somebody came back home
Somebody avoided the strife
That too often comes our way
Everybody was somebody today
