Poetic Hugs

Sometimes the Lord hugs you
With the words of a poet
David with his psalms reaches
Not from the past, not from regret
But from salvation by grace
He is at the finish line
With Paul who has run the race

Stephen withstood the stones
With his eyes fixed on the Rock
And the Father by His side
Lord do not let this stain their bones
Nor the children that they sire
Let it be Your heart’s desire
That fuels my will to forgive

Philip taught the eunuch
From the scriptures of that day
Leading to the road of distresses
The wood cross dragged along the way
The Christ sacrificed for all
Died being cursed on that cross
Laid in another man’s tomb

It is Your heart’s desire
That powers my will to live
The Son overcomes the grave
And pulls me from the burning fire
I have found my way in Christ
Living my life in Your faith
Walking in Your life of grace
