Forevermore

Bad dreams do not come in black and white
They are not just waiting in the middle of the night
Nightmares are the memories of a child wandering
Through the dreams of a fully grown soul
Knowing that nobody helped the child’s pleading

Overcoming isn’t getting over the evil in life
It’s learning that you have to go on anyway
Bravery and courage isn’t facing life without fear
But facing life’s fears scared and moving on
Believing there will be a better way someday

There was no heavenly angel protecting the child
The child was the angel sent to be a blessing
To the ones who took his innocence away
They hid him in the dark to hide their shame
Then blamed him and beat him for being wild

Preachers preaching about devils and evil
And hell that’s coming somewhere down the road
Can’t reach the one born in heaven raised in hell
Only God can touch the heart beaten and bruised
Only God and the man knows the pain he’s been through

This may be a little difficult to understand
But sometimes the acts of manufactured love
Only widens the breach in the heart of the man
Only God can touch a heart empty and dark
Only God can say, “Light be,” and it was forevermore
