for an eternity

I have never walked on water
Never calmed an angry sea
Never talked my friend out of the grave
I’ve never done a lot of things
My Savior left heaven to do
But I have done so much
I would not have been able to
If my Jesus have not come along for me

It has been a long and crooked road
Made straight by His loving grace
Because He was willing to stay the cross
That was the cross I could not bear
So He left all of heaven to face alone
Insults from His own creation’s tongue
To bring us back to the garden
And wash away everything that kept us lost

Now it’s not me who lives my life
But Him within and Him without
The one who became by birth a Son of man
Who always was and is the light of day
The Word of God separated from the law
Sent out of love while we still doubted
Why would eternity die for me
So that I might live on for an eternity
