For A Love

How can we have joy
In a world where children
Die at the hands of children
Where politicians get rich
Embezzling the American dream

How can we find peace
In a world where the young
Are not young until they age
But only until they glare
At the start of the American nightmare

Where has our hope gone
To leave a better world
Than the one we came into
Building a better place
For our children to run the human race

Two thousand years past
We nailed our hope to a tree
Laid Him in a borrowed tomb
But we never found room
For a love that can love our enemy
