Evening and Morning

Time heals all except the knife
You push into your own heart
When you walk out of the light
Projecting your own kind of dark
Forgiveness is waiting for one more
But one is all you have behind the door

Somebody is knocking on
The outside looking inside
I think it’s me without sin
A piece of me on the cross
Counting it all as if it was lost
Knowing nothing but Christ and Him risen

The anointing is teaching
And my heart is listening
Seeing it’s not I who’s free
Because of the life within
Washed clean by Christ who’s living in me
My life is only free in Him indeed

He has walked the narrow road
He’s carried my heavy load
He’s entered through the strait gate
He has put me on the highway
Compelling me into the byway
To invite more people to let Him in

He lay in my empty grave
Angels moved the stone away
As the Father called, “Light be!”
The Spirit hovered over me
Separating dry land from water
Evening and morning was a new day
