Sitting

Sitting in my easy chair
Wondering why you’re not here
When I charmed you away years ago
Told myself it was you
But all the while I knew
I always put my heart in second place
And more so when I knew
I could win the race

My life calls to me
And it seems like something else
A movie or someone else’s dream
I’m watching and trying to get away
Always, always I can’t stay
It’s enough to make me scream
But I keep it all inside
Keep it all so deep inside

Sitting in my easy chair
But nothing’s easy or hard
Nothing’s taking me anyplace
No path, no stream, no road
Only me knowing I should go
But I can’t stay or I can’t leave
Just sit here and believe
That I am sitting here in the race
