Saw a Man Look

Saw a man look at a woman he loved
Remembered looking at you that way
In his eyes were the reflections of time
Walk in the park, talk sunrise ’til dark
About nothing and summer and spring
The roses grew – the vase – the rhyme
The paper milled – the ink – the stamp
The smile – the laugh – arms reaching
Talk about nothing and winter and fall
And what a fall – hearts growing on trees
Ripe for picking – falling in the breeze
Touching her softness with trembling hands
Feeling with every beat of thundering heart
About nothing and summer and spring
And maybe a house and maybe a ring
And she answered the phone and said
Time is all it will take and time takes
Talk about nothing and winter and fall
