Early in the morning as I slept, a dream came on me. In the dream, I was in a building where a church congregation meets. People were gathered in groups around the room, talking with one another. People from one group asked me to come and pray for one who was sick. As I laid my hands upon them and began to pray, the words came out in Latin. The words meant nothing to me as I do not understand Latin. As I moved away from the group, another group asked me to come and pray with one who was sick; and the same thing happened. Then a third group asked me to come pray for one who was sick; and the same thing happened. Moving away, I asked them to forgive me because I do not know Latin. None of them received their healing. In my heart there was a desire and compassion to see them healed, but my words came out in Latin.

The Spirit spoke to me and showed me something about the church. God, through His Spirit, has planed the seed of love and compassion within us. The desire to heal is not a desire to see wonders, but to see our brethren healed. When the desire moves from our heart to our mouth, it goes through our mind – we think on what to say to sound scriptural and proper. We imitate what we have seen from other men, even though the imitation does not heal. Some speak Latin, others Hebrew, and some another language, but we do not speak what is in our heart. We do what we see men do, and not what we see God doing.

Healing comes from the same place as grace, and mercy, and love. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body (1 Corinthians 11:29). The word “discerning” in that verse means to separate thoroughly. It has nothing to do with our knowledge about the Lord’s body. It has to do with separating thoroughly from the imitation traditions in our taking the Lord into us. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep (1 Corinthians 11:30). It is not our actions, but our misunderstanding of the grace Jesus has earned for us; so we try to earn the healings by our own words and knowledge.

Jesus removed (delivered us from) the curse of the law, but we still believe that we perish from lack of knowledge – we still believe we are dead because there is something we do not know. Jesus became the thing we did not know, and lived and died to become someone we can know. Separate the love of God from what we can know, and what we have been told we must do; and let God dwell within us, and come from us. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment (1 John 3:23). The commandment of the Father is to believe on the name of His Son, who gave us the commandment to love one another. Separate the Son from what we think we should know, and let God be God greater than our knowledge.
