God Has Always Been God

God has always been God
Jesus was always the Word
It was always grace that saved
And God’s mercy that showed us the Way

God has always been God
Even before there was time
God always knew who we were
We have always been on His mind

Jesus was always the Word
Before there was ever a fall
God granted Him everything
Now everything waits for His call

We are the children of God
Or we are nothing at all
We are the Church of Jesus
And in His name we sing His praises

God made everything that is
Made us sisters and brothers
And sent His Holy Spirit
So we could love one another

This is love, not that we love
But His love given to us
So we can find our way home
As His children no more to roam
