The Bride

On this morning the Holy Spirit spoke with me and answered a question that another person asked. How can a man marry Jesus? The answer is, a man will not. Jesus’ bride is the church. The bride is in spirit. Jesus is saying that the relationship between the church and Himself is like that of a bride to her husband (or how God intended the relationship to be between a bride and her husband). Jesus gives the church His name – cares for the church – protects the church – covers the church – loves the church – defends the church, etc. The church honors and glorifies Jesus when the church is faithful to her Groom.

That is the marriage between the church and Jesus, but the church is made up of individual people and some of them are men. The marriage is in spirit and not in flesh. In the flesh we are men and women; in the spirit we are not. Jesus comes to us and we become one spirit – the will of Jesus is to become our will (it is the will of the Father that sent Jesus). But we are also, just like in marriage, one flesh. Jesus gave His life, flesh, for us to cover our sentence of death, because He did not sin and was not under death He could give His life for ours. Because He gave His perfect life for us, we live now for Him – for His glory – in His name.

When we take the bread, we take the flesh – the life Jesus gave for us. When we take the wine, we take the life that Jesus has always been, in Spirit and Truth. In the bread is accepting our part in the body of Christ – the church – the bride. In the wine – blood – Spirit we are accepting our part in the life of Jesus eternal. One Spirit – the Spirit of God and the spirit of man united. Men wanted a man king and God gave them a King of God and man, so they would never need another king. The kingdom of God and the kingdom of man brought back to a King that is God. Satan has not taken anything away that God has not returned – that includes our Lord and King as Lord and King.

The ones invited to the feast did not come, so the master sent his servants into the streets to gather guests. When the prodigal son returned the Father had the servants prepare the best lamb for a feast. For this said the Lord God, “I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out … I will feed them in good pasture” (Eze 34). The servants are one with the Lord God in name and in Spirit – how else could the Lord say, “I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out… I will feed them in good pasture.”But Jesus said, “I no longer call you servants, but friends.” Another part of the relationship – that of friend.

Yes, I am a man, for now, and I am the betrothed bride of Jesus, the Son of God but not the man – the spirit that is not male or female has joined with the Spirit as a waiting bride to her future husband. Forsaking all others for an eternity we shall never part. Jesus has given to me His name in that name I live (David knew grace looking forward to the sacrifice of Jesus – in the same way we are covered as the bride as we look forward to the wedding). The name is to be honored and glory given to the Husband by a faithful wife. When Jesus returns the church that ministered through the great wrath (and those whose robes are made white by His blood (wine – spirit)) will be before the Lord forever praising His name and giving Him honor. The bride is not the only one at the feast – there are servants and guests also. There are also those whose names were on the invitations that were too busy to come to the feast. What is to become of them? Where ever we are called – as a servant or guest or as the bride, it is better to attend the feast than to miss out.
