In life there is pain. All of us can look into our past and find things we have done or that were done to us that cut us deeply. We all have scars of past hurts. Sometimes it seems as though we cannot live another moment with the pain. A man lived that was beaten and cut to the point of death. That man was Jesus Christ. He was beaten to the point of death to take our pain upon Himself. Each cut He suffered was to heal a pain that we have. Jesus died to forgive us of the things we have done and the things that have been done to us. Yes Jesus died for the people that inflicted pain on us, as well as for us.
Peter spoke boldly one day and, as humans often do, without thinking about what he was saying. Jesus spoke and said, “Satan, get you behind me.” Jesus commanded Satan to leave Peter alone. Jesus put Himself between Peter and the tempter of mankind. It has been said that Jesus is between God and man. That Jesus presents our case to God. Jesus is not between God and man. Jesus stands on God’s right hand, to introduce us to the Father. Jesus stands between Satan and man.
When the temptation to give evil for evil comes upon us, we have Jesus to block the temptation and to forgive the evil action. When life seems to be more than we can handle and we are tempted to end life, we have Jesus. Jesus knows how that feels. What! Jesus knows how it feels to be tempted by death? Yes. Satan once tempted Jesus to cast Himself off a high place. Jesus spoke the written word and overcame that temptation. Jesus stands between Satan and us.
As each of the stripes was being added to Jesus’ body, He was standing between the pains of life and us. When He died, He was standing between death and us. Jesus paid the death sentence that was placed on man in the garden when they followed Satan instead of God, when He stood between death and us on the cross. We are forgiven. His body was broken so that we could be healed. When the pain of our past rises up in us, Jesus is there. Call on Him. Accept the blood of the Lamb on the doorpost of your life and Jesus is between the death angel and you. Jesus bares the scar of our past pains.
Pray the prayer of acceptance and worship and feel the Holy Spirit within, standing between your heart and your head. Accept the death of Jesus and the life of Christ Jesus, our Lord and King. There is no trial that we have to face alone. There is no pain that we have to face alone. There is Jesus to stand between your past and the new you in Christ. Confess your sins to God in Jesus’ name. Confess your weakness and need for Jesus to the Father in Jesus’ name. You have the right to sign Jesus’ name to a check to pay any bill life sends your way. Forgive and be forgiven. Jesus took the stripes. Jesus took the pain. Jesus is waiting to accept you and introduce you to the Father. No on will ever stand in your way as long as Jesus stands between the deceiver and you. While man was in sin, Jesus lived and died to show us the Love of God. That is perfect love to grace and grace into perfect love. Jesus lives, that is eternal life.
