God, my God, so loves me
That he gave to me His Son
Beaten and taken to the cross
And now God, my God, calls me child
God, my God, calls me His child
Left alone on my own
Have I ever been on my own?
My life was nothing, empty
Without form and void
Darkness was on my face
The Spirit hovered over me
And as I listened God said
“Let there be light!”
And there was light
Jesus the Christ, the Light
What a Light shines in me
What a Light that shines in me
God, my God, so loves me
Who has believed our report?
To whom has the Lord been revealed?
He grew up before my God
A tender plant, a root from dry ground
He was despised and rejected
Who among us has loved Him?
Who among us has lived for Him?
Not taking count for our life
Nor asking alms from a brother
Depending on the Lord, my Lord
Who among us has loved Him?
