Where Does That Leave Me?

You say you want me
But time stands in our way
You say you need me
But time slips away day after day
You say to you I’m everything
But time has your heart on a string
Time is not what it takes to be true
Time will not wait for me to wait
For you, nor you to wait for me
I’ve got too much pride to stay
And too much heart to run away
Time is not warm when the night is cold
It will not be there when we grow old
It will not call to say good night
It will not try when things aren’t right
I’ve got too much pride to stay
And too much heart to run away
Where does that leave me, today
